Finals

With finals starting next week, I am beginning to feel the pressure lift as the end of the semester nears. True, most people begin to stress right about now, but as for me, I know where I stand in my courses and feel very confident I will do well on my finals. I need to achieve a 3.5 GPR this semster to raise my cumulative GPR high enough to be admitted into the A&M Meteorology program. As of now, I am on the border of an A and a B in my government class, but I feel with my extra credit essay and good grade on my final, he will give me an A. I had him last semester, and I got an A while in the same boat.

Speaking of boats... This weekend Jesse and Clarissa are traveling to Missouri for another TKD National qualifer, but we will be staing at my house in Dallas Thursday and Friday night. Friday, weather permitting, I'll be taking them out on the boat for a little fishing.

But it's not just any boat. My father and I spent a little over two years building, yes BUILDING, this boat. We got it form a friend who owned a marina by our house. He took it in on a trade just for the engine, and was planning on trashing it due to its horrible condition. There was no deck to speak of and 90% of the wood left in the boat was rotten. We spent the next 2 years rebuilding it from the hull, up!

If you know about boats, you know they have stringers, as do most rigid objects(ie. planes), that help them stay stiff while being thin. We decided to raise the level of the deck in the rear portion of the boat, so I had to creat new ones. Here I am cutting them out with a Skill saw...

Finished stringer fitting...

Here are some more pictures of intermediate steps. Someday I'll create a website of the entire project.

Painting and engine mounting....

Finished Product!!!

There have been a few additions to the vessel since these pictures, but nothing major as of yet. This summer it will be getting a paint job and a fishing tower...

I know the title of this article is "Finals", but who really wants to read about school drama anyways?!?! Hope you enjoyed the pictures! NIGHT!

Apologize

The Timbaland CD Shock Value came out, and the song below is a favorite of mine. I have been listening to the group that sings it for over 2 years now. you can find them on Myspace

I'm holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground
And I'm hearing what you say
But I just can't make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down
But wait...
You tell me that you're sorry
Didn't think I'd turn around and say..

That it's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late

I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
(But that's nothing new)
Yeah yeah

I loved you with a fire red, now it's turning blue
And you say
Sorry like an angel, heavens not the thing for you,
But I'm afraid

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologizes, it's too late
Woahooo woah

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, yeah yeah
I said it's too late to apologize, a yeah

I'm holding your rope

The past two days have been interesting.

Tuesday I still wasn't getting any better from my sickness, so I went to the doctor. He said it's most likely a cold and it should be over in a few days, but gave me a prescription anyways to fill if it isn't better by Friday. I then spent the rest of my Tuesday night doing physics homework; and when I say the rest of my night, I mean from 5pm until 11pm... 6 HOURS of making my head hurt! Afterwards, I was convinced by about 2 words to meet Clarissa at Sweet Eugene's for a bit.... When I got home I checked the TAMU Application status website to see where they sit on whether or not they will let me graduate from A&M with a degree in meteorology or not... The past couple of weeks it had read, determining academic decision.... Well, when I checked at 1:20 am Wednesday morning, it said, "An academic decision was mailed to you on 4/10/2007". I started to grow nervous on what the letter says.... I finally fell asleep about an hour or more later...

My alarm goes off at 7:30 this morning and I suddenly realize they mailed my letter yesterday and it should be in the mail either today or tomorrow (Thursday). I spent my entire first class staring at the clock waiting to get out so I could check my mailbox. After my class I rushed home, opened my mail-box and.... NOTHING! I figured it was only noon, maybe he will come later... I checked my mail again at 2:30 after my second class and still, nothing... Finally, at 5:00 I decide to check it one last time for the day and, uh-oh, there is mail... I began to grow nervous, only to find they were all ads.. A little frustrated yes, but it's OK... I guess it will come tomorrow...

Tonight was the A&M Woman's Tennis match against Baylor, the defending Conference Champions. Our Lady Aggies started out very strong, only to be later overrun by the Bears. They put up a tremendous fight and didn't let the Bears go home easy.

I am sitting here, writing this before bed, not because I'm not tired and don't want to be sleeping, but rather because I'm waiting for a phone call, and this is helping me pass the time....

Well, I have run out of stuff to say; I guess I'll put the TV on to distract me! night!

Monday, Monday

Monday... how i really dislike Mondays. There is no transition from the weekend to the week, unless you use Sunday. But if you use Sunday as a transition day, you only get a one day weekend and that SUCKS!

Lets first recap my weekend... I woke up Sunday morning at 4 am with a splitting headache and a deadly cough. I was weak all day and not really feeling like eating anything. I forced myself to eat and at 4:30 I got a call from a friend asking me to play ping pong. Even though i could barely move. I REALLY wanted to go! ;) So i put my game face on and got my butt kicked in Ping Pong. I blamed the sickness, but she wouldn't take any excuses...

After be humbled in ping pong I went home, forced myself to eat food, drink water and take medicine before bed. I hit the sack around 8:30

I woke up this morning, Monday, not wanting to do a damn thing. Even though I felt better than Sunday morning, I was still not good to go! I went to my first class and forced myself to stay awake. Afterwards, I went home, cooked lunch and decided to blow off my next class to get some RnR.

I wasn't going to attend Tae Kwon Do practice tonight, but forced myself to go, convincing myself it was good for me to get some exercise. So I went and it went well. I couldn't breathe and looked as pale as a ghost, but I'm glad I went.

Officer elections were tonight and I was planning on running for President, but was informed tonight that since I am not a CURRENT A&M student, I wasn't allowed to... Oh well, gives me more time to focus on school next semester so I can actually graduate this decade... Well that's all for now... cya!

snow in April in TX?!?!

I knew it was going to be a cold day, but I just didn't know how cold it would be. I wake up at 10:30 to my phone ringing and my dad calling me from Dallas, just to tell me it was snowing. My mom called me about 10 minutes later to tell me the same thing. I know, so of you might me thinking, are they divorced? No, they aren't; he was going to Home Depot, and she was on her way to my grandmother's to bring her groceries.

Clarissa and I went to lunch today to Buffalo Wild Wings. I'm not really sure why i keep giving them my money. I'm not a huge fan of wings so i get their boneless, but they are mostly bread and overcooked. But today wasn't about the food, or their SPECTACULAR service either. It was about me and Clarissa talking; talking about old people stuff. And when I say "old people stuff", I'm referring to things I wouldn't have ever brought up 6,5,4, not even 3 years ago. I'm not "that" old, but being 24 defiantly sets you apart from the younger crowd.

I went to The Library last week with a new friend, and after about 10 minutes we were ready to leave. It's not that the clientel has changed, it's that we grew up and entered a new and more mature stage in our lives... Isn't it interesting how a place you once loved to go can change into a place you have no interest in? It really puts one's life into perspective.

As for now, I still have 63 hours of school left, which means I'll be here for at least 2 more years.... There is no telling on what else I'll loose interest in; hopefully never my friends. I don't know where I would be without them.
