WHOOP!!!

So i got my letter of acceptance into Texas A&M a few days ago... EXCITING!

It has been a little more then a month since I have written on here, and all is well. A lot has been going on, and in due time I will get to it all...

I ended up getting an A in my mini-mester at Blinn, which was the determining factor in my acceptance. The Thursday following my mini-mester final, my father and I drove the 12 hours drive to Destin, FL for the umpteenth time. I swear, it only feels like a 4 hour drive now that we have done it so many times. When I was at FSU i would drive that path about 2 times a month, and we have also been going there since I was a baby b/c my dad grew up there. ANYWAYS!

While there, we went fishing everyday. Some days on the pier, one day on his friend from high school's boat, and one day we relaxed and did a little fishing mixed with body-surfing and snorkeling. I caught my first fish of the trip at approx. 5:45 am on the pier. (Picture below) We woke up that morning at 4:15, and were at the pier fishing by 5. At about 7:15 the fish were done and so were we! We went to breakfast at Waffle House, then did some shopping at Wal-mart, then we took naps til about 3. The rest of the day we chilled and went site-seeing.

Saturday, day 2, we went on the boat. We are on the water by 5:30 and fishing for bait by 6. At around 7:45 we had our first fish. Throughout the trip, the wind was steady around 15 mph and the waves constant at about 4 feet. Not TOO bad.... All in all, we caught our limit on King Mackrel (2/person) and a few smaller Spanish Mackrel, a few Red Fish and Snapper along with a Barracuda.... Not too shabby if I may say so....

The next 2 days we drove around and my dad reminisced and we looked for property and did the traditional tourist stuff along with doing the non-traditional tourist stuff. The last night in town, we walked the beach and I took sunset pics... AHHHH... I Love Destin....

After returning home, I began to make a new fishing rod, a hobby of mine... You start with a Fiberglas "blank" which it the actual rod with nothing on it. No handle, grip, guides or ANYTHING! I proceeded to put the handles, grip and guides on it and even wove my name into the thread by the reel... pretty sweet huh! It took me about 3 days start to finish including drying time for the epoxy coat you put on the rod in afterwards to protect it from damage.

I have made 3 rods total since we got back, and it is possible I'll make one more. My dad decided I should redo all the ones he made as a kid living in Florida and have all his matching and mine matching with our names woven in them. His are red, black and silver, while mine are blue, black and silver.

My sister and I will be living together this fall in a duplex we just rented just down the street from where we are living now. I haven't seen the place, but according to my sister and the owner, it is pretty nice. Comes with a yard, 2 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom, washer/dryer, and all that jazz.... I'm pretty excited and my sister is even more then I b/c now she can have a puppy and a yard to put it in to play... WHATEVER!

Well, ta ta for now!

I hate finals!

I have been studying physics since 10:30 Monday morning with about a 2 hour break in there somewhere... it is now 1:15 Tuesday morning and I have my final at 10:15.... I did all the old exams, and have been doing the quizes we took this past semester too... I'm getting up at 8 to take a shower, cook breakfast, and finish the last 2 qiuzes before I take the final... I can't wait til it is over!

I also have my Government final tomorrow, but i'm not stressing over it at all... he gave us a review sheet, and i wrote it all out and have been reading over it for the past 3-4 days... no problem there!

Well, i'm off to bed... NIGHT!

P.S. I HATE FINALS!

Finals week and extra credit....

So I took my Zoology final yesterday and I believe I kicked its butt! I only needed a 75 to make an A in the course, and with the extra credit offered, I feel 100% confident I got that A!!!

Today, I woke-up, cooked lunch and began writing an extra credit paper about illegal immigration in Texas and what the problems are and how the government is dealing with it. I must say, i got very involved in the topic and very much enjoyed writing the paper. I could have gone on for pages, but stopped at 2. The more i read, the more annoyed and angry I got. I just don't see how the US government can know there is a problem, want to fix it, but yet, do nothing about it. The numbers are staggering and when i read them, my jaw dropped. for instance, illegal immigrants cost the state of Texas approximately $17.7 billion a year. This money that should be going to our education, highways, hospitals, etc, not to people who are here illegally. This is outrageous!

Anyways, just thought I'd share.... have a great day!

Confused

I am so confused.... I get invited out to with her, to lunch and dinner with her, we talk all the time, but we are just friends. I don't really know what to do in this situation. I know what I want to do and I also know what I should do, but is there a third option? Things between us are great on the friendship level, and I don't want to jeopardize that. But as my good friend Jesse says, you can't hit home-runs without swinging for the fences.

She is going home this summer and I don't really want to start anything now anyways, but it's hard for me not to try... When we "hang out", it's totally chill and relaxed, nothing awkward, and I don't want to complicate things by tell her how I still feel...

We had talked a little over a month ago about us just staying friends since it's the end of the semester and she is going home for the summer, and also the pressure of finals and such.

I just don't know what to do....

This one of the songs I have had on repeat on my computer recently...

"Don't Wait" - Dashboard Confessional

The sky glows
I see it shining when my eyes close
I hear your warnings but we both know
I'm gonna look at it again

Don't wait, Don't wait
The road is now a sudden sea
And suddenly, you're deep enough
To lay your armor down
To lay your armor down
To lay your armor down

You get one look
I'll show you something that the knife took.
A bit to early for my own good
Now let's not speak of it again

Don't wait, Don't wait
The road is now a sudden sea
And suddenly, you're deep enough
To lay your armor down
To lay your armor down
To lay your armor down

Don't wait, Don't wait
The lights will flash and fade away
The days will pass you by
Don't wait
To lay your armor down

Haedache

I just don't really know what to do anymore; should I stay and fight for what may someday be or move on and continue my search? This decision along with the stress of finals, and even more so my GPR, is bringing me a bit down lately.

I talked to my physics professor today and we determined I will make a B in the class as long as I make atleast a high C on the final. I am hoping for an A, but I need a high C minimum to keep my B. If I don't get a B in physics, it's off to FSU for me... I have been playing with the numbers and for me not to take the mini-mester at Blinn, I need to make an A in my 4 hours zoology course, a B in my 4 hour physics, an A in my 3 hour government course, and a B in my 1 hour wellness course(or whatever they call it here).

The pressure is starting to build, so I have been trying to workout daily at the REC to not let it get to me. I work very well under pressure, but there is only so much one can handle before he is crushed. I don't want to get crushed and crumble.

I really want to stay here in College Station, it has grown on me. I love FSU, but I feel that A&M has more to offer me besides just an education...

Finals

With finals starting next week, I am beginning to feel the pressure lift as the end of the semester nears. True, most people begin to stress right about now, but as for me, I know where I stand in my courses and feel very confident I will do well on my finals. I need to achieve a 3.5 GPR this semster to raise my cumulative GPR high enough to be admitted into the A&M Meteorology program. As of now, I am on the border of an A and a B in my government class, but I feel with my extra credit essay and good grade on my final, he will give me an A. I had him last semester, and I got an A while in the same boat.

Speaking of boats... This weekend Jesse and Clarissa are traveling to Missouri for another TKD National qualifer, but we will be staing at my house in Dallas Thursday and Friday night. Friday, weather permitting, I'll be taking them out on the boat for a little fishing.

But it's not just any boat. My father and I spent a little over two years building, yes BUILDING, this boat. We got it form a friend who owned a marina by our house. He took it in on a trade just for the engine, and was planning on trashing it due to its horrible condition. There was no deck to speak of and 90% of the wood left in the boat was rotten. We spent the next 2 years rebuilding it from the hull, up!

If you know about boats, you know they have stringers, as do most rigid objects(ie. planes), that help them stay stiff while being thin. We decided to raise the level of the deck in the rear portion of the boat, so I had to creat new ones. Here I am cutting them out with a Skill saw...

Finished stringer fitting...

Here are some more pictures of intermediate steps. Someday I'll create a website of the entire project.

Painting and engine mounting....

Finished Product!!!

There have been a few additions to the vessel since these pictures, but nothing major as of yet. This summer it will be getting a paint job and a fishing tower...

I know the title of this article is "Finals", but who really wants to read about school drama anyways?!?! Hope you enjoyed the pictures! NIGHT!

Apologize

The Timbaland CD Shock Value came out, and the song below is a favorite of mine. I have been listening to the group that sings it for over 2 years now. you can find them on Myspace

I'm holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground
And I'm hearing what you say
But I just can't make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down
But wait...
You tell me that you're sorry
Didn't think I'd turn around and say..

That it's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late

I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
(But that's nothing new)
Yeah yeah

I loved you with a fire red, now it's turning blue
And you say
Sorry like an angel, heavens not the thing for you,
But I'm afraid

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologizes, it's too late
Woahooo woah

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, yeah yeah
I said it's too late to apologize, a yeah

I'm holding your rope

The past two days have been interesting.

Tuesday I still wasn't getting any better from my sickness, so I went to the doctor. He said it's most likely a cold and it should be over in a few days, but gave me a prescription anyways to fill if it isn't better by Friday. I then spent the rest of my Tuesday night doing physics homework; and when I say the rest of my night, I mean from 5pm until 11pm... 6 HOURS of making my head hurt! Afterwards, I was convinced by about 2 words to meet Clarissa at Sweet Eugene's for a bit.... When I got home I checked the TAMU Application status website to see where they sit on whether or not they will let me graduate from A&M with a degree in meteorology or not... The past couple of weeks it had read, determining academic decision.... Well, when I checked at 1:20 am Wednesday morning, it said, "An academic decision was mailed to you on 4/10/2007". I started to grow nervous on what the letter says.... I finally fell asleep about an hour or more later...

My alarm goes off at 7:30 this morning and I suddenly realize they mailed my letter yesterday and it should be in the mail either today or tomorrow (Thursday). I spent my entire first class staring at the clock waiting to get out so I could check my mailbox. After my class I rushed home, opened my mail-box and.... NOTHING! I figured it was only noon, maybe he will come later... I checked my mail again at 2:30 after my second class and still, nothing... Finally, at 5:00 I decide to check it one last time for the day and, uh-oh, there is mail... I began to grow nervous, only to find they were all ads.. A little frustrated yes, but it's OK... I guess it will come tomorrow...

Tonight was the A&M Woman's Tennis match against Baylor, the defending Conference Champions. Our Lady Aggies started out very strong, only to be later overrun by the Bears. They put up a tremendous fight and didn't let the Bears go home easy.

I am sitting here, writing this before bed, not because I'm not tired and don't want to be sleeping, but rather because I'm waiting for a phone call, and this is helping me pass the time....

Well, I have run out of stuff to say; I guess I'll put the TV on to distract me! night!
